There is nothing like college game day, and there’s nothing quite like a Nebraska road game. It never ceases to amaze how well our loyal fans travel. We hope you enjoy some of the sites and sounds of the Nebraska-Minnesota game…the Huskers’ first trip to Minneapolis as a member of the Big Ten Conference did not disappoint!!!! Go Big Red!!!!

Aimee Brungardt, Your Fan on the Ground, gives us a look at a few of the places to stay and socialize when road tripping to Minneapolis for Nebraska-Minnesota games. The NU180 team toured the campus of the University of Minnesota the day before the Nebraska game in Minneapolis. It was built on the MIssissippi River and is divided into the West Bank and the East Bank. The East Bank is where the new TCF Stadium is located. Nebraska’s first year in the Big Ten creates great opportunities for Husker fans to experience these new places, and taking a tour of the campus of each school is a fun thing to do. The NU180 crew presents the “Nebraska vs. Ohio State Game Day Experience” video. Aimee Brungardt, Your Fan on the Ground, takes us around downtown Lincoln and the UNL campus for Nebraska’s first homegame as new members in the Big Ten Conference. The pre-game festivities and excitement were surpassed only by the outcome of the historic Nebraska 34 Ohio State 27 come-from-behind win. Wow…and then another wow!

State Street – that’s all there is to say about Bars and Hotels in Madison.

Thursday afternoon the NU180 team was treated to a tour of the campus of the University of Wisconsin.  Kate Dale once again joined our Fan on the Ground, Aimee, and brought along her husband and fellow UW graduate, George.

Memorial Union, Union South, Bascom Hill, and many points in-between, we spent some quality time touring this beautiful campus.

The northern section of the campus borders Lake Mendota, and the famous Memorial Union Terrace sits right on the lake.  It was incredible to see students studying, lounging and socializing in a space whose aesthetic is normally reserved for vacation destinations!

A bizarre weather front rolled in around 4:00pm that day, bringing 60+ mile an hour winds for a while.  Kate and George Dale, our tour guides, said they’d never seen weather like that on Lake Mendota.

On Thursday, we were joined by Kate Dale with the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau, a long time Madisonian.

She gave us a tour of the Town of Madison. Wow, what a place!

We started out at the Monona Terrace, with spectacular views of Lake Monona and the Capitol Square area. From Monona Terrace we went into the State Capitol and had a great visit with the Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Madison.

From there, we made our way around the Capitol Square attractions, stopping first at Fromagination, a cheesy place for Huskers to stop.

Next, we went to the Overture, an amazing concert hall.

Then we stopped at the Old Fashioned for some cheese curds -- yummy!

Finally, we visited the Madison Children’s Museum and their rooftop exhibit.  Aimee even played with some chickens.

Our last stop on tour of The Town was at Camp Randall.  What an amazing feeling to be on the turf right before the big game!
